INTERNETS, I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR YOU. Not the best people to be asking, honestly, but whatever. Right now I'm being pressured to apply for Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and Yale yes, before I even start sophomore year. My head'll fucking explode if I do that, so.

-research opportunities in your school?

And other stuff like that.

This summer, while I was taking a tour of MIT and Harvard and Tufts and Swarthmore, I realized that all the shit sounds exactly the same. The only way I'll know if I'm happy in a college while factoring in things other than prestige and major is if I get personal opinions on this stuff.

So, you guys. HIT ME. This post will be stickied to the top of my journal in one week's time, and will be forever public. People who drive-by my LJ for whatever reason are free to comment.

People who are going to be in college, regardless of age, or have already graduated are also free to comment.

Today was a good day, despite all the rain and me forgetting to take some painkillers.

1) For a good, solid hour, a group of us started up on plans for England domination. It was great: we had representative allies from all over because we're all different countries, and then when the Celtics started an uprising in the UK, we would CRUSH IT and take over the whole place! And then somehow we got the Playboy Mansion into the Vatican, and decided to use the entire population of India as human meat shields for our forces. And we turned Wales into a death camp for people whose faces and hair we didn't like. And we'd take all the chavs in England and put them in an arena for a spectacular battle royale. And then Viktor the Swedish Nazi proposed we sink Africa. It was a glorious domination plan.

2) I actually felt somewhat smart in Chemistry today! GASP.

3) I got Ayame to watch some Danny Phantom. And Prof to watch Pushing Daisies.

Yup. Gooooood daaaaaaay.

I think I'm starting to feel the IB Burn. Spanish test and chem test tomorrow, both of which I have to absolutely ace--I really need to pull up my grades in the next few weeks. As well as a minor English assignment, 20 abstract photos for art, do the write-up for the watercolor painting, finish my first painting write-up, and do the modern art timeline. For Friday.

I am feeling minorly overwhelmed, although I think it's because of how badly I need to ace those tests.

...oh yeah, and SAT work. Also that award ceremony was a massive waste of my time that I could've spent studying. Bah!

Why is it that you can use the same toothbrush when you're sick and then use it again when you get better without falling ill again? Wouldn't you leave SICK GERMS all over your toothbrush?

Switching out of Bio HL into Art HL was the greatest decision I've ever made in my life.

I have 5 hours of scheduled art lessons per week, and they are what I live for on my hellish every-single-class-I-dislike-until-4:30 Tuesdays. They are partially why my Fridays--when I have triple-Art--are a weekly cause for celebration.

And my teacher's told us that, to complete our 18 IB works by senior year, we have to work on this stuff in our free time, during our lunch breaks and whatnot. And honestly? I am more than happy to go into that art room and spend an hour every day just working on my stuff there.

I just. Can't stop gushing about it. I am so excited to go to my art class tomorrow ggghghgheifhfhgh!!

You ever get that feeling that no matter how much water you drink, you can never get rid of the thirst? And then when you breathe in, your throat feels like a huge burst of air is passing over it and it feels super-uncomfortable...not painful, but just unpleasant.

It's usually a sign of someone getting strep throat, isn't it?

Don't go home right after school! Stay in, and do all the homework there! God knows I have to, with how easily I get distracted. Too many bookmarks filled with fun games and shows, aaaaaaah. I've just done aaaaallll my homework for tomorrow, and at least half the art work for this week--and it's only Monday! It's only 5 pm now, so I've got now through till midnight to do whatever I want. <3

Maybe if I keep this up it means I can pick up the pace with RPing! 8D

I just wish people would be honest with me and tell me that they hate me. I know that at least someone I interact with regularly hates me with a burning passion.

also I saw a mailman today. And I had the mail delivered today. It was quite shocking.

Germany was awesome. We covered four cities in 1.5 days, and it was just plain cool all around. There was good food, normal driving, and buildings that are not rotting from the inside out. That is really all I can ask for from a foreign country.

In other news, Freakshow has become one of the more Genre Savvy villains on the show...and also one of the most feminine. I swear, they changed their drawing style on him, because all I could think while watching him was "egads, he's a bald lady!"

Does anyone know of any colleges in Wisconsin/Michigan/Iowa/Illinois/Minnesota/Indiana that require a 3.5 GPA or higher? So far I've only got University of Chicago on my list...I need more.











In other news, there are days where I weep over Steve Marmel. If this does not show how pathetically obsessive I am, nothing will.

1) Selfridge's just got that more obnoxious. In addition to having a 30 foot sign declaring "OPEN TO THE WORLD SINCE 1909" blinking in bright yellow lights all day long for months on end, they've now added another 30-40 feet of Christmas decorations on top of it. The lights were off since I was there at noon,and it was STILL the most obnoxious thing on Oxford Street.

2) On my way home, I saw a guy walking with a parrot perched on his shoulder. It was awesome.

3) AAAAAAAAAAAH RATS AAAAAAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I just saw one weaseling around my room for the third time, not to mention how many mice we find in the kitchen past midnight...at least I didn't step on one like my dad did. But AAAAAAAAAAUGH AAAAAAAAAAUGH I almost prefer having the ants in my underwear from our old apartment.

And I'm not sure how much longer I can go with this. I might just apply to non-US universities just because of the SATs. I am in a constant state of "about to completely lose my shit" because of that test.

EDIT: Whenever mom's gone, I'm stuck with dish duty. Which is totally fair, I'll admit, since I don't really do much to help out around the house, and most dishes can just be shoved into the dishwasher and be done with it.

But pots and pans...those can't, and they are my worst nightmare. Have you any idea how disgusting it is to try and hand-wash two week old moldy caked food from the sides of a pot with a soft sponge? The textures... the nightmares of the textures... it's so bad half of my dishwashing is scraping food off with a steak knife.

2) re: field trips in general -- I remember why I hate them. I'm constantly surrounded by spoiled rich kids who won't accept anything less than they're used to, and then whine incessantly about it.

3) Holy fuck is there really a new Code Geass series coming out?! Good sweet god! I really hope there is--but only if it's not going to be R3. I'd...actually really love to see a Nightmare of Nunnally anime. Or an AU. Or an alternate-R2 where they do the original plotline that they had to scrap.

E-even if it was R3, I'd watch it for the trainwreck.

4) on the train ride back home, I was wondering:

How did we figure out how to milk cows? It's not like some sort of ingrained instinct like other human actions. So, what, did generation after generation try out different methods of playing with a cow to see what it could do? Pull on its tongue to see if it would spit out vegetables? Tip it over to see if it would lead us to a pot of magical brownies? How did we figure out that pulling on the udders gets us a healthy liquid filled with calcium?

And, for that matter, how did cows get that milk out before we figured out how to get it ourselves? Did they...projectile shoot the milk out of the udders before it's about to burst? Did the baby cows bite the udders and suck the milk out? What if the baby cows were too short to reach the udder?

5) London Expo this weekend. 8D

Good news: I finished the newspaper. Yaaaaaay. I feel good about that.

Bad news: SAT math. The rate I'm going at, I should've failed freshman math. Guh. I hate myself and want to tear this stupid book apart.

I don't think I'll be going on the Ghana trip after all. Maybe I'll go on the Nicaragua trip next year instead.

ugh, I have to pack for my field trip this week. Three days in the pleasant English moors in Yorkshire...surrounded by cows and shitty weather and Emily Bronte's house. Yippee.

3) Finish and finalize Ghana lesson plans
4) Complete school newspaper layout and give it all a final proofread.

And all of this? Due tomorrow. At least I'm learning how to be good and productive pretty fast. But augh SAT studying.

Y'know, all of this would be much more bearable if this apartment had any insulation. Or maybe if the heating worked. My hands, they are numb.

Fucking tarantalasaurus COCKWEED thank god I've only got like a year and a half left to be stranded here. And thank god I'm not going to an English school right now, or I'd have declared bloody murder on the entirety of this fucking country.

I just have to wait until the end of 12th grade...June 2011, and I'm free.
